Description
Ochiltree Cottage is a hall house, now functioning as a house, dating from the mid 16th century, with alterations made in the early 17th century and late 20th century. The structure features a combination of timber framing with brick infill, painted render, and brick. It has an old tile gabled roof and is designed in an L-plan with three framed bays, which includes a two-bay former hall on the north side and a late 20th-century single-storey extension on the west. The building has two storeys and a single storey. A large rendered chimney with clay pots is located on the west wall.
On the east front, there are two bays with two-light 19th-century casement windows in the centre and to the right of centre. To the left, there is a planked entrance door with a small hood above it. Inside, most of the timbers are exposed, and there are shutter grooves for 17th-century window openings on the first floor of the north wall in the former hall. The roof features queen posts with clasped purlins and sooted rafters.
