Description
Pound Cottage is a building that dates back to around 1600 and has been altered in the 20th century. Originally two cottages, it is now one. The structure features a timber frame with brick infill and an old tile gabled roof. It has a rectangular plan consisting of four framed bays, with Bell Cottage, which is listed separately, located to the right. The building is two storeys high and has a ridge chimney with two coupled shafts, offset heads, and clay pots.
The front facing the road is irregular. It has 20th-century leaded casement windows, including two three-light windows and one four-light window on the first floor. There is a 20th-century plank entrance door to the left of centre, with a three-light window to the left of the door and a two-light window to the right. To the right of this is a now disused half-glazed door, followed by a three-light window at the right end.
On the north gable, which faces the church, there is one bay featuring an original four-light leaded oriel window on the first floor, complete with a moulded mullion and cill supported by a central spur bracket. The ground floor has a similar window but with later casements and a gablet above. Inside, some of the timber frame is exposed, and the roof features a queen post design with curved windbraces.
