Description

The lych gate to the Church of St Lawrence was built in 1906. It features a timber frame that is partly supported by stone and flint walls, with tile slips on the wall plate. The roof is made of old tiles and has a half-hipped design. The structure has a rectangular plan and includes arch-braced and chamfered trusses at each end, along with large scantling rafters. The chamfered and cambered purlins bear an inscription that reads, "This gate was erected by the Friends and Relations of Rear Admiral Capel Woodhouse for 17 years Churchwarden of this Parish." There is a bench seat on each side, and the floor is patterned with tile slips and stone. Although the gates are missing, the pintles remain.
