Description

The Sheiling is a small house dating from the 16th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is partly timber frame with painted brick infill, and partly painted brick, with an old tile gabled roof. The house has a rectangular plan, with extensions at both ends and at the rear. It has one and a half storeys and features a chimney at the rear, one on the central ridge, and one on the right gable. The windows are 2-light casements with glazing bars. The west-facing front, which looks onto the road, has four bays, four hipped roof dormers, and four windows on the ground floor. A plank entrance door is located to the left of centre, sheltered by a simple flat hood.
