Description
Elm Place is a two-storey house built around 1760-1780, featuring a stucco facade and set back from the street. The right side of the front is partly hidden on the ground floor by a projecting shop front. It has a band cornice and a parapet, topped by a steep old tile mansard roof with two corniced dormers and tall red brick chimneys on either side. The front has three windows, including a late 18th-century two-storey canted bay with a cornice on the left. The windows are fitted with glazing bar sashes. The central doorway is plain and has a six-panel door, two of which are glazed.
Inside, the house has plain panelled partitions and a dog leg stair with turned balusters leading to the first-floor landing. At the rear, there is a canted bay that aligns with the front bay, along with an early 19th-century two-storey extension with a hipped roof.
