Description

This is a late 18th-century front block, originally part of the George and Pelican Inn until around 1850, with a mid-19th century rear range built in the inn’s former yard. The building has two storeys, with a three-window front facing London Road and a single-window return. The rear range has four windows. It features a hipped tile roof with brick ridge stacks. The front is rendered and has a dentil eaves cornice, while the rear is brick. The front has gauged flat brick arches over recessed sash windows with glazing bars; the rear range’s ground-floor windows are similarly detailed and include sidelights. A round-arched entrance leads from the street, with a prostyle Tuscan portico providing cover to the side doorway.
