Description
21 and 23 The Broadway is an early 19th-century building that has been remodeled from three older structures and is now used as a single residence. The two houses that make up No 23 were refronted in the mid-19th century. The building has two and three storeys with a fenestration pattern of 2:2:3. It features a tiled roof that is hipped at the north end and is constructed of painted brick. There are dormer casement windows and recessed sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor has been converted into a modern showroom. At the rear of the building, there is a gabled 17th-century wing that is timber-framed with plaster panels and includes a two-light casement window with small panes. Additionally, the rear of No 23 displays irregular 17th and 18th-century gables, some of which are hipped, along with brick weatherboarding and tile hanging.
