Description
Lilac Cottage, now divided into two cottages, dates from the late 16th century and has undergone 20th-century alterations. It features a thatched roof that is half hipped, with large central chimneys and a smaller chimney on the east side. Each cottage has a dormer cut into the thatch, and the thatch is dressed down over a 20th-century porch at The Retreat. The structure is timber framed with brick and plaster infill. There is a 20th-century brick and tiled extension that projects from Lilac Cottage. The building is one storey with an attic, and it has irregular timber casements. The entrance to Lilac Cottage includes a plain four-panel door beneath a flat hood.
