Description
Great Hidden Farm House is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with additions and alterations from the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It features a tiled roof with end chimneys from the earliest construction. The building is made of flint with brick dressings, brick facing over a timber frame, and brickwork in both Flemish and English bonds. The main block runs from west to east, with a 2-bay 16th-century timber-framed section to the west, a 19th-century extension to the east, an early 19th-century block running parallel to the northeast, and a 17th or 18th-century stair and crosswing to the north of the center. The house has two storeys.
On the south elevation, there are 20th-century tripartite glazing bar sashes flanking a central sash. The ground floor features three tripartite sashes, with two to the right of a central glazed door. Inside, the timber frame is exposed in the southwest block. The first-floor west room has a 16th-century stone surround to the fireplace, which includes a four-centred arch and moulded stop-chamfered jambs. There is also a late 17th-century straight flight staircase with turned balusters and square newels.
