Description

Denford Park, now known as Norland Nursery Training College, is a country house built in 1832 by Sir J. Wyattville. The structure is made of Bath stone ashlar and features a slate roof with a lead dormer over the south bow. It has a rectangular plan and stands two storeys tall, with a plinth, a band at the first floor, a moulded cornice, and a parapet. The chimneys are positioned on either side of the central portion of the block.

On the south elevation, there is a central semi-circular bow that rises to the full height of the building, featuring three glazing bar sashes. These are flanked by one glazing bar sash on each side, all of which have moulded architraves and panelled aprons. The north elevation includes three glazing bar sashes and a central recessed entrance that is highlighted by a projecting semi-circular Tuscan portico with coupled columns and an entablature, which is accessed by three stone steps. The wall beneath the portico is rusticated, using contrasting coloured stone for the imposts and panels below the windows.

Inside, there is a stone cantilever staircase to the right off the entrance hall, with a balustrade made of decorated Adam-style openwork panels. The building is flanked by 20th-century extensions that are not listed.
