Description

The Elcot Park Hotel is an early 19th-century house, later adapted for use as a hotel, with 20th-century alterations and extensions. It is constructed of brick with a slate hipped roof. The building has a rectangular plan, with a later wing added to the north-east. The south elevation has two storeys and a moulded eaves cornice. Four glazing bar sashes are present, each with a rubbed brick flat arch above. A sundial is set within a rectangular recess in the centre of the elevation, flanked by full-height flat pilasters. An extension to the right of the south elevation continues the design with another glazing bar sash, the ground floor of which is covered by a glazed verandah. The west elevation features a central parapet and cornice above three glazing bar sashes. A central portico is constructed with two Doric columns in antis, a frieze, cornice and blocking course. A large late 19th-century extension is located to the north of the original building, featuring two full-height bows containing three and four sashes respectively, a tripartite sash to the north, and a single sash to the south.
