Description

The Hambrook Grove Hotel is a late 18th and early 19th century house, now operating as a hotel. It is constructed of rendered material, with plain detailing on the ground floor and lined and textured detail above, set on a rubble base. The roof is covered with Roman tiles and slate.

The main block is three storeys high with five windows, all of which are glazing bar sashes. A large, central portico features fluted square columns and plain Ionic columns that support a frieze and cornice. A string course runs along the front. The central window on the first floor has a segmental head with a mock voussoir detail below. The building is finished with a plain cornice and parapet.

Later wings were added to the original structure. The wing to the left is blank and displays a coat of arms. The wing to the right is two storeys high with two windows, each with glazing bar sashes.
