Description
The Viaduct Hotel is a hotel built in the late 18th century, with early 19th-century additions. It features painted roughcast walls, V-jointed quoins, and an eaves cornice set on a chamfered plinth. The roof is covered with 20th-century tiles and has gable kneelers, along with brick chimney stacks. The building stands three storeys high and has three bays, with a single-bay extension to the left and a rear two-storey extension forming an L-shape. The windows are sash style, framed in painted stone architraves. On the left return wall, there is a top-glazed panelled door with a radial fanlight, set in a moulded doorcase. The rear of the building has two 20th-century windows, while the rear extension includes some 20th-century casement windows and sashes with glazing bars, all in painted stone surrounds. A late 19th-century extension to the right is not considered of interest.
