Description

This is a country house, originally dating from around 1720, and later altered and extended in the 19th century. It is now used as a nursing home and is situated within landscaped parkland with gardens. The house is constructed of stucco, with lined detailing, and has slate roofs. The original rectangular structure has a later L-shaped extension. It is two storeys high with attics, and features a plat band, cornice, and parapet, with four regularly spaced ridge chimneys. The extension has attics set within a mansard roof, concealed behind a parapet, and has dormers.

The north-west elevation has ten glazing bar sash windows with jalousies, arranged in groups of 2-2-3-3. The left-hand end slightly projects forward. The front entrance is located under the central three windows and is sheltered by a large, semicircular portico with a flat roof. The portico has thin, grouped iron columns and a delicate cornice with a Greek key moulding. Double doors lead to the interior, flanked by tripartite sash windows and surmounted by a rectangular fanlight.

The south-west elevation has a central pediment over a slight projection, with glazing bar sash windows arranged as 2-1-2, several of which have cast iron lattice balconies. The south-east elevation has slight forward projections at each end, and a large, semicircular portico, now glazed to create a bay window to the left. This elevation contains seven glazing bar sash windows arranged as 1-4-2.

Inside, the central south-west block contains a full-height hall with a balcony on the first floor and an overhead lantern light.
