Description
This is a Type 24 pillbox located at the northeast corner of Hamstead Bridge, built in 1940 as part of the War Office design. It is polygonal in shape and constructed from concrete. This pillbox is one of a pair that were designed to defend the bridge and is part of the Southern Command's General Headquarters Line Blue, which was established for the defense of the United Kingdom during World War II.
