Description
This is a Type 24 pillbox located at the northwest corner of Hamstead Bridge, built in 1940 as part of the War Office design. It is one of a pair of pillboxes that were constructed to defend the bridge. The structure is polygonal and made of concrete, forming part of the Southern Command's General Headquarters Line Blue for the defense of the United Kingdom.
