Description
Mill House is an early 19th-century building that was originally a mill and is now a house. It features painted stucco with hipped slate roofs and lead ridges and arrisses. The design includes a central octagonal tower flanked by single-storey wings on the north and south sides, which return to the east. The south wing continues with a two-storey pavilion and a single-storey wing, forming three corners of a rectangle. The three-storey tower and two-storey pavilion are linked by single-storey wings, with ridge chimneys on the south wing and flanking chimneys on the pavilion. The wide flat overhanging eaves add to the architectural detail.
On the west elevation, the central octagon has one glazing bar sash window on each face above simple double doors, which are set under a pediment on the ground and first floors of the central face. The symmetrical wings have recessed faces under an overhanging roof supported by thin cast iron columns, creating three bays, with the outer south bay projecting to eaves level. There is one window in each bay, although the far left window is blocked, and a 20th-century half-glazed door is located in the nearest bay to the center on the right.
