Description

Morewood House, originally a granary and dovecote, was built in the 16th and 17th centuries and subsequently altered in the 18th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of brick with a tall, hipped tiled roof, and has a rectangular plan with a 20th-century extension projecting at right angles to the east. It is two storeys high, with a plinth featuring a moulded stone capping, raised brick quoins, and a moulded brick string and band below a coved cornice. The west elevation features five 20th-century replacement sash windows with exposed frames, and a central 20th-century door within a doorcase, complete with panelled reveals and a carved broken pediment on panelled pilasters. The south elevation incorporates a central 20th-century replacement door beneath a 20th-century replacement oval window, flanked by two further 20th-century replacement sash windows. The 20th-century extension to the east is not of particular architectural interest.
