Description
Clove Cottage is a cottage that dates from the 16th century, 17th century, and 20th century. It is constructed of painted brick with some exposed timber framing at the rear and features a plain tiled roof. The building has a long rectangular plan with a 20th-century extension that is at right angles to the rear. It has one and a half storeys, brick dentil eaves, and three gabled dormers at the eaves. There is a large ridge stack and a 20th-century ridge stack located between the original building and the extension.
On the west elevation, to the left, there are two two-light casements with cambered heads and a half-glazed door flanked by a flat hood supported by cut brackets. In the center, there are three irregularly spaced three-light casements with cambered heads. The 20th-century extension to the right includes a lean-to porch over a glazed entrance door.
Inside, the south end has two bays with one central cruck frame exposed, a chamfered stopped floor beam, large joists, and a large fireplace and chimney breast at the junction with the two central framed bays.
