Description

Waterman's Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 16th and 17th centuries, with extensions from the 18th and 20th centuries and a facing from the 19th century. It is constructed of brick and timber frame with brick infill, and features an old tile roof that is half hipped to the south, gabled to the north, and has a catslide to the west. The building has a north/south plan, with an 18th-century extension to the south, a 20th-century extension to the north, and a 19th-century cross gable to the east.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a 19th-century brick chimney located off centre on the ridge to the north. On the east elevation, there is one glazing bar sash window in the 18th-century extension, one glazing bar sash window centrally located in the cross gable from the 19th century, and one glazing bar sash window from the 20th century to the right. Additionally, there are two glazing bar sash windows from the 20th century on either side of a central 20th-century six-panel door that is situated under a flat hood. To the right, there is a two-light casement window from the 19th century.

The north elevation reveals exposed 17th-century timber framing in the gable and wall behind the 20th-century extension. The barge board on the gable features a finial with a carved pendant. Inside, two bays of 17th-century timber framing are exposed on the upper floors, with some larger, earlier timbers found in one partition. A 17th-century chimney has been stopped off in the roof space at the junction of the 17th and 18th-century sections, and there is a 17th-century stair beside this chimney.
