Description

This milestone, dating from the late 18th century, is located on the south-west side of Reading Road in Basildon. It is made of white painted stone and features black lettering. The milestone has a semi-circular section with a chamfered top. It is inscribed with "OXFORD 21" on the top, and "WALLINGFORD 8" and "READING 7" on the side.
