Description
Gables Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, with refacing from the 18th century and 20th-century additions. It features a timber frame that is later faced with grey brick headers and red dressings, while the western side is finished with flint and brick dressings. The roof is made of old tiles, with a slightly raised center and a catslide over an outshot, which includes two gabled dormers at the rear and end stacks.
The front of the house has two 20th-century gabled dormers with serrated barge boards and three-light diamond leaded casements. These flank a central projecting two-storey gabled timber framed porch, which has a five-light diamond leaded casement on the first floor and a tiled pentice roof over an open ground floor. The house consists of three framed bays and is one storey with an attic.
On the north front, there are two ground floor segmental headed three-light diamond leaded casements on either side of a central 20th-century half-glazed diamond leaded boarded door. A one-storey addition from the 20th century is set back to the left.
