Description

This milestone, located on the south side of Reading Road in Purley, dates from the late 18th century. It is made of white painted stone with black lettering. The milestone has a semi-circular section with a square base and a chamfered top. It is inscribed with "OXFORD 24" on the top and "WALLINGFORD 11" and "READING 4" on the side.
