Description

The Cedars, part of The Kendrick School, is an early 19th century building located on the north side of London Road. It is set back from the road and features two storeys and an attic. The exterior is finished in stucco with a string course beneath the first-floor cills and a plinth, topped by a hipped slate roof. The central section has a pediment with wide, flat eaves supported by flat brackets, and a bull's eye window at the center of the pediment.

On the first floor, there are three windows, although the glazing bars have been removed. The central doorway is segmental arched and features double doors, each with three panels. The doors are flanked by sidelights separated from the doors by strip pilasters, and there is a small cornice above with a radiating and wreathed fanlight. Doric pilasters flank the doorway, which appears to have had a portico that has since been removed. The doorway is accessed by stone steps and is flanked by panels beneath the first-floor windows.

On either side of the pedimented section, there are two-storey wings with one window each, although the right wing has been altered. To the left, there are modern additions. The rear of the building is finished in white stucco and features a full-height bow with three windows on the right, which have glazing bar sashes and deep bracketed eaves.
