Description
The Cedars and The Laurels is a house and cottage located on High Street in Cranford, consisting of three buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries, with alterations made in the 19th century. The structures are built from coursed limestone rubble with some ironstone, and feature slate roofs with coped gables. The left part of the building is two storeys with an attic, while the central block is two storeys and the right block is one storey.
The left section has a central blocked door flanked by canted bay windows from the 19th century, and two large sash windows alongside a smaller one on the first floor, all with wooden lintels. There are also two gabled dormers. The central block has a two-window range with a 20th-century door in a 19th-century porch to the left, and sash windows, with the upper ones designed as false dormers. A brick buttress is located to the right. The right block features a 20th-century door in a flimsy 20th-century timber porch, and a two-light 20th-century window, also with wooden lintels. The quoin is initialled and dated 1713. The interior has not been inspected.
