Description
No. 4 The Green is a house located in Cranford St. John, likely dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ironstone dressings and quoins, topped with a thatched roof featuring coped gables on kneelers and brick end stacks. The building has two storeys and a two-window range. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door set within a timber openwork porch. On the ground floor, there are two-light small-pane casement windows, while the first floor features wooden cross-casements with wooden lintels. Above the porch, there is a square stone that may have originally been inscribed. To the left, there is a one-storey addition made of coursed limestone rubble with a slate roof and a brick ridge stack, which includes a large four-light casement window and a panelled door to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
