Description
Nos 13 and 15 Eldon Square is an Italianate pair of buildings dating from around 1840. They are constructed from Bath stone ashlar and feature a slate roof. The buildings have three bays with a gabled centre break and are 2½ storeys high, with the ground floor channelled and the sides rising to 2 storeys. There is a basement present. A band runs over the ground floor and under the centre attic, with a moulded cornice and blocking course on the sides.
The central arched panel in the attic contains a window, flanked by round-headed windows with corbelled cills. The glazing bar sash windows have marginal glazing, with four on the first floor featuring raised surrounds. The inner windows have corbelled stone balconies with metal guards. The inner ground floor windows are French casements leading to wide balconies with arched railings, supported by short Doric-type columns from the basement area retaining walls. The outer ground floor features two glazed doors with steps, and No 13 has a projecting stone porch with a shouldered lintel. A central panel pier on the first floor is topped with an urn capping.
