Description

This is a group of two pairs of estate cottages, numbers 1 to 7 Mill Road, dating from the mid-19th century. The cottages are built of pale brick and have gabled, steeply pitched slate roofs topped by large, stepped chimneys with heavy capping. The projecting gables have brick toothed eaves. Each front has one window; the ground floor windows are three-light diamond glazed casements with cambered brick heads alternating red and light brick, while the first-floor windows are two-light diamond glazed casements. Lean-to porches are set into the angles of the projections, with doors featuring ornate iron hinges. There are two windows to each gable end. The cottages are included on the list for group value.
