Description

This is a terrace of six estate cottages located on Cockfosters Road, dating from the mid-19th century and subsequently altered. The cottages are constructed of cream brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a covered Welsh slate roof. The two-storey building has nine bays arranged in three groups of three. Each pair of cottages is distinguished by a centrally positioned gabled porch with a blind window above, with windows on each floor and end stacks. The porch entrances feature four-centred arches, and the doors are made of vertical panels. The windows now have replacement small-pane metal casements set within chamfered flat brick arches and wooden sills. Stepped dentilled eaves run along the roofline, with raised verges featuring moulded ashlar kneelers and coping. The chimneys have diagonally-set flues, although the third chimney has been removed. Rear single-storey additions have been made to the property. First-floor windows on the rear elevation have two lights under flat, tumbled brick arches. The interiors have not been inspected. The building possesses group value.
