Description
The School House at Brompton Barracks is an early 19th-century building made of brick with a slate hipped roof. It has a single-depth plan and stands two storeys tall. The façade features a symmetrical arrangement with a window range of 3:5:3. The central three bays project slightly forward and are separated by plain pilaster strips, topped with a cornice. The windows have rubbed brick flat arches and consist of 6/6-pane sashes. On the west front, there is a round-arched doorway located to the right of the center, which includes a radial fanlight and double doors. The interior has not been inspected. This building is an early example of educational architecture within a barracks and holds group value as part of an axial arrangement with the Barracks blocks and Institute.
