Description
The memorial to General Gordon, located at Brompton Barracks, is an equestrian statue erected in 1890. It features a bronze statue of General Gordon, who died in 1885, seated on a camel with a tasselled saddle. The statue is mounted on a moulded Portland stone plinth that includes a bronze cartouche. The figure is well-cast and expressive, with free-hanging tassels, and is positioned symmetrically along the axis that aligns with the Institute, memorial arches, and barracks.
