Description

The Smith Monument is a chest tomb located 30 yards west of the Church of St. Helen, dating from 1781. It is made of stone and features a tall base on a plinth with two steps leading up to the chest tomb. The sides of the tomb are panelled, with gadrooned baluster corners and a corniced lid. The monument is inscribed to John Smith, who died in 1781. At the time of the last survey, it was noted to be in a dilapidated condition.
