Description
The Smith monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 5 meters south of the Church of St. Swithin. Dated 1697, it is made of limestone and features lyre-ended design with oval end inscription panels surrounded by rich Rococo detailing. Each panel includes a death's head below; the eastern panel has a fleur-de-lys above, while the western panel features a carved face above. The sides have recessed inscription panels bordered by floral carvings. The tomb has an ovolo moulded top and a chamfered base. The south side is inscribed to Susanna Smith, who died in 1697, while other family members are commemorated on the north side.
