Description

The Red House is an early 18th-century house located on the south side of Reed Street in Cliffe-at-Hoo. It is constructed of red brick, featuring a red brick band that is discontinued over the outer windows. The house has a plain tiled roof and is designed in an L-plan. It stands two storeys tall with an attic, and has a timber eaves cornice supported by modillion brackets. The front of the house has a regular arrangement of three windows, which are fitted with glazing bar sashes; the outer bays have wider windows and include shutters. The central entrance was altered in the mid-19th century, now featuring a half-glazed door with a transom light above and a flat hood on brackets. Additionally, there is a speaking tube built into the brickwork to the left of the door.
