Description

The Smith monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, 12 metres south of the tower of the Church of St. James. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of freestone. The tomb features a moulded, hipped slab with corner balusters, plain sides and ends that include inscriptions, and a heavy moulded base with a plinth. It commemorates John Smith, who passed away in 1780, among others.
