Description

The Smith monument, located in the churchyard and 5 metres south of the south aisle of the Church of St. James, is an early 19th-century chest tomb made of freestone. It features a hipped slab with moulded corner pilasters and plain ends. On one side, there is a cartouche with text, and it has a moulded base. The monument commemorates John Smith, a yeoman, who died in 1828.
