Description

This is a late 15th-century hall house, later re-clad, located on High Street in Halling. It is now divided into a pair of houses. The building has a Wealden hall plan, consisting of a 1½-bay open hall with jettied ends. It is timber-framed and originally plastered, with a plain tiled roof and a large brick ridge stack on the right side. The front has an irregular three-window arrangement, with an original hall window to the left of the centre. The roof has a plate supported on curved braces. The interior includes a very large inserted stack in the ½ bay of the hall, featuring stone jambs and a moulded bressumer, along with brattished wall beams at both ends of the hall. The roof structure is a crown-post, collar-purlin design.
