Description
The Cottage is a cottage that dates from the 17th century and was extended in the 18th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from Isle of Wight stone rubble and features a thatched roof with end brick chimneystacks. The original part of the building has one and a half storeys and two bays, with eyebrow dormers. The windows are modern triple casements from the 20th century. There is a central modern projecting porch with a gable, kneelers, and a stone finial, along with a cambered doorcase.
To the west, there is a one-storey stone rubble addition with a hipped thatched roof and three 20th-century casements, which is said to have been used for stabling. To the east, there is another one-storey addition with two 20th-century triple casements. Inside, the cottage features an early 17th-century chamfered spine beam with heart and diamond stops and an open fireplace. On the right side, there is a late 18th-century stone fireplace with a wooden bressumer and rushlight marks. The porch contains reused early 17th-century oak panelling and some linenfold panelling made from exotic wood.
