Description

Ravenscourt is an early 19th century villa that was enlarged around 1840-50 into an Italianate belvedere tower villa. It is constructed of stone rubble with dressed quoins. The prominent three-storey tower features a low pyramidal slate roof, with one window on each face, and ashlar surrounds, including a round-headed window on the first floor. At the south end, there is a lower three-storey tower porch with a crenellated parapet, while the rest of the building is two storeys with two windows. A slightly later gabled addition to the northeast includes a triple round-arched window on the second floor and a two-storey rectangular bay window with tripartite lights. The villa is situated in a dominant hillside position.
