Description

Tower Cottage is an Italianate style villa, dating from around 1840. It is a two-storey building with a symmetrical facade of 11 windows. The east side of the villa projects slightly, while a three-storey tower is set back further to the east and contains the main entrance. Two gables are present on the front facade. The tower has a pyramid roof largely concealed by elaborate chimney stacks and an open archway designed to separate the flues. The roof is slate-covered, and the windows are sash windows, although a later bay has been added to the ground floor on the east side. An arched doorway is located at the base of the tower, and is sheltered by a small canopy supported by a thin column.
