Description

Oddfellows House is a mid-19th century Gothic villa situated on the north side of Bury Road. It originally had a symmetrical arrangement of one-by-one windows, though this has been altered. The roof is slate, with a low pitch and prominent gables and smaller gablets, detailed with elaborate barge boards and cusped eaves. The upper windows are in a "Tudor" style featuring splayed reveals, while the ground floor has projecting square bays. The side elevation is punctuated by a first-floor chimney with cusped brackets, and a gable with two smaller gablets above a three-unit ground floor arcade featuring buttresses. The central unit projects forward beneath the largest gable, while the west unit is recessed and of a lesser height, but now has a modern, flat-roofed extension.
