Description
Bury House is an 18th-century building located on Bury Road. It is three stories tall with a basement, constructed from plum-colored brick with red brick dressings. The building features a moulded stone cornice supported by brick dentils and a plain parapet with moulded stone coping. The roof is covered with old tiles, and there are two chimney stacks topped with moulded stone cappings.
The front of the house has five bays, with the central bay slightly projecting. All windows are fitted with stone cills and red brick shaped aprons, while the second-floor windows have Venetian shutters. Most windows have had their glazing bars altered.
To the east, there is a one-storey extension that includes one door and one window, and to the west, there is a modern two-storey wing. The entrance features a 19th-century four-panelled door set within a doorcase that has a plain surround, fluted Doric pilasters, and a broken entablature with a cornice that extends across and breaks forward over the center of the door. The necking moulding of the pilasters is extended to form an ogee arch above the door, supporting the break in the cornice.
