Description

Kingshill House, now the Seymour Clinic, is a villa dating to approximately 1840 to 1860. It is constructed of stucco with a hipped slate roof. The building is two storeys high and originally five bays wide, with a two-room depth. The architectural style is Italianate and symmetrical, featuring a central entrance beneath a tower that provides access to the rear stair hall. A two-storey extension from the 20th century is located at the rear, along with several later 20th-century extensions to the front. The slightly projecting entrance bay is distinguished by banded rustication. It features a round door with a small, bracketed cornice and pediment, flanked by narrow side lights. The windows are 2-pane, 20th-century replacements with moulded architraves and sills and bracketed cornices. First-floor windows also have architraves and sills, which extend as a band. Wide eaves are ornamented by paired carved modillion brackets. The tower above the door has a tripartite first-floor window and paired arched lights to the second storey. The facade has been extended by half bays on each side to the rear. Internally, the porch is vaulted and supported by carved corbels.
