Craigdhu, North Queensferry

Craigdhu is an Italianate villa built around 1853, featuring two storeys and an attic with an irregular plan. The villa has a central three-stage piended stair tower and a rusticated conservatory at the main entrance on the east side. The south elevation includes a central gabled three-storey section flanked by two-storey dormered single bays. The exterior is rendered with painted margins, and there are hoodmoulds over the ground and first-floor windows, as well as canted bay windows on the south and west sides. The upper stage of the tower has arcaded bipartite windows, and the overhanging eaves are adorned with double bracketed gables and finials.

Inside, the original layout has been almost completely preserved, including the original staircase, chimneypieces, and shutters. The villa predominantly features six-pane timber sash and case windows, pitched roofs, a piended stair tower, grey slates, and diagonally set coped ashlar stacks.

The property is enclosed by high coped random rubble boundary walls along Ferry Road, with a timber boarded door leading to the garden off the road. The entrance is marked by coped square-plan droved ashlar gatepiers and a timber gate.
