Description

Numbers 5 and 5A on Melville Street date from around 1840 to 1850. This building is two storeys high and has a stuccoed exterior. It features a parapet with coping and a block cornice. The first floor has a bay window with three lights, which are sash windows without glazing bars, and it has plain strips, a dentil cornice, and a plain apron. There is a small mid-19th century shop front with one window made of plate glass, flanked by thin colonettes, and a glazed door. A blind case occupies the cornice area. Numbers 1 to 5A on this side of the street form a group.
