Description

Numbers 16 and 17 are terraced houses built in the early 19th century, featuring four storeys over a basement and three windows each. The paired, flat-arched entries are framed by Tuscan pilasters and an entablature, with banded, chamfered rustication on the ground floor. Each house has first-floor balconies supported by cast-iron brackets and railings. There are storey bands between the first and second, and second and third floors, with an entablature and blocking course above. The elevations are designed as full-height and nearly full-width segmental bays. All windows are flat arched, with original design sashes on the second and third floors; the central window on these floors is blocked. The first and second-floor windows feature a floating cornice supported by pairs of console brackets, and the centre windows also have a pediment. There are stacks on the party walls. The interior has not been inspected, but there are railings to the stairs and areas.
