Terraced house. Early C19, much altered subsequently. Stucco. Roof obscured by parapet. 6 storeys over half basement. 2-window range. Stairs up to segmental-arched entrance flanked by pilasters, from which spring large volute brackets supporting a first-floor verandah with cast-iron railings and concave metal roof with valance boards. To right of entrance is a full-height canted bay with tripartite windows, those to basement segmental arched the rest flat arched. To left of bay and above entrance is one window with projecting sill on each floor, that to second floor has a floating cornice; spandrel of 4th-floor window above entrance is panelled. There are cornice storey bands between the second and third floors, and between the 4th and 5th floors, these are interrupted by the bay. Cornice and parapet with coping to top floor. INTERIOR: not inspected. Railings to basement window in centre of bay. Nos 20-31 Old Steine (qv) form a group.
