Description

The Ancient Well is a structure located on Scotland Hill in Sandhurst, dating from 1874. It features a hexagonal plan with a brick base constructed in Flemish bond and a tiled pyramidal roof. The superstructure is timber framed, adorned with scalloped braces, coved and ribbed eaves, and an open roof. The well is now blocked with concrete and was built as a memorial to Harriet Walter Vyvyan of Forest End, who died in 1874.
