Description

Pear Tree Cottage and Lane End is a house that has been divided into two homes. It dates from the mid-16th century and has been altered and extended in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features a timber frame encased in brick and has an old tile hipped roof.

The structure is L-shaped, with Lane End having a two-storey rear extension added in the 20th century. Pear Tree Cottage includes an early 19th-century low two-storey pent extension at the rear.

The exterior stands at two storeys and is characterized by tall chimneys with corniced heads and clay pots at each gable end. The windows are 19th-century casement style with two lights and glazing bars, featuring segmental arched heads on the ground floor. The south entrance is irregular, with three-bay windows and a gabled entrance porch supported by wooden posts to the left of the center. The entrance door is a half-glazed style from the 20th century. The right bay of Pear Tree Cottage was rebuilt in the mid-20th century in a similar style after a fire. The entrance to Pear Tree Cottage is located on the right end return.

Inside, some of the timber frame is visible on the first floor, and there is a queen post roof with arch braces connecting the posts to the roof ties.
