Description

Knibbs Nook and Wee Knibbs is a house that has been divided into two homes. It dates from the late 16th century and features a 20th-century extension and alterations. The building is constructed with a timber frame and has painted render infill, topped with an old tile gabled roof.

The layout follows a baffle-entry plan with three framed bays and a single bay crosswing that has false timbering. The structure is two storeys high and includes a large late 16th-century chimney with ribs along the ridge. The north entrance front is irregular, featuring a single bay gable on the left and a two-bay section on the right. The right section has a three-light window and a two-light window on the first floor, with a four-light window on the ground floor beneath the three-light window. There are two 20th-century gabled entrance porches on timber bases; the left porch (Knibbs Nook) contains a 20th-century planked door in its original opening, an old bench seat, and a brick and stone floor, while the right porch (Wee Knibbs) also has a 20th-century planked door. The left return of the crosswing features a square oriel window on each floor.

Inside, most of the timber frame is visible. An original four-centred chamfered door head has been repositioned at a slightly lower level over a blocked opening in the dividing wall at ground floor level between the two houses.
